Equality

Friends testimony on equality is rooted in the holy expectation that there is that of God in everyone, including adversaries and people from widely different stations, life experiences, and religious persuasions. All must therefore be treated with integrity and respect. The conviction that each person is equally a child of God opened the way for women to be leaders in the Religious Society of Friends: both women and men ministered in Friends Meetings from earliest days.

GLBT People and La Jolla Meeting

by Martha Carey, La Jolla Meeting

La Jolla Meeting, like its affiliated Southern California Quarterly Meeting and Pacific Yearly Meeting, welcomes spiritual seekers of all sexual orientations, their children, and partners.

Quakers seek that of God in each person, and recognize that all love is a gift of creation. Our testimonies of integrity and community guide us in our collective quest to live fully, in loving community.

GLBT (gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgendered) people serve openly in leadership positions and teach our children in First Day School (Sunday School).

Of course we bless same-sex partnerships, and we eagerly await the day of full marriage equality.

and hast walked in the Light, and what thou speakest is it inwardly from God? â€”George Fox
